A major benefit of having a core environment for applications is a simplified integration process. Once integrated, the porting of other applications and services requires little work. Obigo Core provides infinite possibilities for device manufacturers to tailor Obigo applications to suit technical as well as user experience requirements. The flexible architecture, with common user interface elements for a minimised memory footprint, makes it very easy to get the same look-and-feel through your device, making your products more intuitive for the user.

Obigo Core consists of several components with different functionalities. The Framework integration layer is the main Core component. It brings together common features of the Obigo applications, which in turn provides a structured, smooth and cross-triggering interface for integration with a target device. The interface consists of API functions to the operating system, device resources and a user interface widget API.

The WAP/HTTP Stack is another component of Obigo Core that handles download operations through a dual protocol stack supporting both WAP and HTTP. Other features of Obigo Core are the Control Panel for accessing connectivity settings, the Provisioning Service for user accounts, the Push Service for the handling of pushed content, the Unified Message Box and Cell Broadcast handling.

Optional Obigo Core products provide more advantages. Obigo Widgets is a graphics library with a complete widget implementation that supports themes. Obigo Security handles certificate management, cryptographic algorithms and trusted MMI. Obigo Digital Rights brings OMA DRM 1.0 compliant content protection, including Forward-lock, Combined and Separate delivery. A DRM 2.0 interface extension for DRM 2.0 engine integration is also available.
